The Albatros DVa with its distinctive edelweiss logo was seen regularly on the UK Airshow Circuit 2015-2016 is being rebuilt in Wellington, NZ, together with an SE5a that needs re-furbishing to meet UK CAA standards.  The WW1 Aviation Heritage Trust has been offered both aircraft for the foreseeable future from 2018 onwards if we can meet the costs of returning them to UK and their reassembly. 

We need your help to raise £15,000 to bring the aircraft back to England for 2018.

The 'Edelweiss' Albatros that reurned to NZ was flown by Leutnant Paul Baumer who was accredited as the 7th highest German ace.  The Albatros that will return was flown by  Otto Kissenberth, born in Bavaria who had the distinctive Edelweiss painted on all his aircraft.  The SE5a was the aircraft of choice for many RFC pilots.  The best known of whom are Major James McCudden VC, DSO, MC and Major Mick Mannock VC, DSO**, MC*.  During this campaign, we will be sharing updates on the aircrafts' progress in NZ with you interspersed with stories about these two leading aces of the RFC.  If anyone would like to start their own fund-raising efforts to bring the aeroplanes back, please see the button at the bottom rght of the screen.
