My Story

Having a sister with cerebral palsy, a physical disability seeing her in her electric wheelchair with communication difficulties, mobility struggles and knowing that she depends on support and help from others with her daily needs everyday inspires me always to think of how I can help her. I work at Cerebral Palsy Midlands as a Development Officer looking after marketing, communications and fundraising so I can see her wonderful smile every day and also so I can be close by, should she ever need a sister cuddle. Working here at the charity close to our families’ heart, I believe that everything we do really can make a difference.

I am no stranger to obstacle courses, running and/or mud, however I still find each one a new challenge. Just so happens the last challenge I did last year, Rat Race, almost set me into retirement as it hurt so much! - 200 obstacles and 20 miles! The bruises and the pains really did set me back so much so, I decided to have a break. UNTIL NOW! My trainers are back on. I am running again. I’m determined more than ever to not be defeated!

I know I ask you, my friends and family, to dig deep and sponsor or contribute often but that’s because every contribution you make makes an enormous difference to the people like my sister and here at our centre in Harborne. With your donations the charity, Cerebral Palsy Midlands, can upgrade the centre, by new equipment, take them out on daytrips and or holidays. They can ensure they keep delivering an invaluable service to the people who need it most. And, they are hugely grateful. As a small charity, currently facing cuts we must keep trying harder to fundraise and to raise awareness. So, I do apologise if I ask a lot, however they really do need and value your support. Please spare what you can, a fiver, a pound. It all helps, makes a difference and keeps Vicky and her CPM friends smiling.

X Runner Water Wipeout is the wettest one of them, and whilst challenging, it looks like a lot of fun. It takes place on Saturday 8th July 2017 at the National Water sports Centre in Nottingham. Water Wipeout is the ultimate obstacle race and muddy fun run. This awesome challenge will include: Water Slides, Tightropes, Tunnels, Hurdles, Giant Walls, Cargo Nets, Spider’s Webs, Balance Beams, Mud, Water and the Assault Course, do you think I am tough enough? If so, get behind me and help support me and my team in our wonderfully wet challenge. Our team name is 'How I met your mudder'.
