Many of us know how much difference a short period of service overseas as a young person can make to one's life. It changes your perspective on the world around you. It helps you understand the huge differences in education, health care provision, nutrition, political circumstance there are ...
Christians Abroad is a project of the Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI) working ecumenically across the Four Nations and beyond.
Christians Abroad's legend is 'sharing skills and promoting community'. Christians Abroad provides opportunities and support for Christians to work internationally for mission and/or development on short term projects. It also provides support to people of any other faith or none to work within Christian projects overseas for mission and/or development. We know how much such service changes individuals. The feeling part of being a part of the world wide Christian community grows and deepens. It often changes future career direction and use of voluntary or discretionary time. Donations are welcome towards towards administrative, accommodation and travel costs particularly for students or others on limited income.
Christians Abroad also offers pastoral and administrative support to longer term mission associates.. Such Mission Associates are largely funded by local churches in the UK and individuals such as yourself. They do not fit easily into the mission agency network for a variety of reasons. Christians Abroad provides them with accountability, legitimacy, administrative and pastoral support for their ministry. One of the most rewarding aspects of the work of Christians Abroad is in providing this support to these individuals whose integrity and clarity of their call to God's mission is apparent. Our call to service on their behalf is always in close partnership with the organisation/community they work with overseas. The number of such Mission Associates is small but their need for financial support for themselves, their families and their projects overseas is challenging. Every contribution generally to Christians Abroad or specifically to their projects is gratefully received and accounted for.
